St. John and St. Thomas Wedding Photography FAQs
Sage Answers Your USVI Wedding Photography Questions
- Q: What makes Crown Images photography unique?
A: I think it is the composition or “look” of the photographs and the service that makes Crown Images different from other wedding photographers in the U.S. Virgin Islands. My background is in the fine arts and I was trained to photograph “the moment,” this is what photography is all about, capturing a moment in time. The photographs have a life to them that is full of the bright Caribbean colors, the couples expression’s of joy, and the moments that make up a beach wedding. I also offer affordable packages that include an online gallery where wedding photos are posted a couple days right after the wedding.
- Q: What makes you unique as a photographer?
- A: I have a unique personality for a photographer, that sets people at ease and allows me to capture great natural photographs of them. I simply love to photograph, and enjoy what I do, so most people really do have fun getting their photographs made by me.
- Q: What would you call your style of photography?
- A: My wedding photographs are a combination of a formal portraiture and candid photojournalistic style, they have a contemporary, playful and vibrant look to them.
- Q: Can we have black and white photographs made?
- A: Yes, every image can be printed all three ways; color, sepia, and black and white.
- Q: Most wedding guides recommend that we hire a “professional wedding photographer” for our wedding, what are your credentials?
- A: Crown Images is fully licensed and insured. I am a full time destination wedding photographer, photographing well over 100 weddings each year in the Caribbean. I have a Bachelors of Fine Art in photography, have been creating pictures for more then 15 years, and before moving to the US Virgin Islands I worked in the photo district in New York City as a photo assistant for a number of world renowned photographers. Most importantly I love what I do, making photographs, and this makes all the difference in the world.
- Q: Will it be you, personally, photographing our wedding, or will you assign another photographer that works for you?
- A: Yes, I only book weddings that I will photograph.
- Q: Each wedding photography package lists an exact number of images delivered, do you take more photographs then this number?
- A: Yes, I have no limitation while photographing because of the digital process. After photographing I will then edit each image and provide you a strong group of images to remember your special day. Please visit www.usviphotographer.com to see an entire wedding.
- Q: What time of day should we get married on the beach?
- A: This is really up to you. The main difference between a morning wedding and a late afternoon wedding is the color and the light when the colors of the ocean and sky are really different. The ocean in the morning is a very turquoise color and the light is cool and crisp and in the afternoon the water has a deep blue look and the light is warm. I would suggest either an early morning wedding or a late afternoon wedding, when there are less people on the beach. Below are my examples:
Morning Wedding on Trunk Bay, St. John
Afternoon Wedding on Trunk Bay, St. John
- Q: When we’re ready to make additional prints do we have to order them through you?
- A: You will have ownership of your images, provided on a high resolution disc (aka digital negatives) you will be able to make prints at any photo lab of your choice. A copyright release is printed on the disc so you will be able to make as many prints as you would like. Your family and friends have the option to order prints from a personal online gallery.
- Q: Do you only photograph weddings on the beach?
- A:No, I’ll photograph a wedding at any location: villas, churches, beaches, ruins, overlooks, etc.
- Q: Do you only photograph weddings?
- A: No, I also offer portrait, engagement sessions, family and honeymooners packages.
- Q: How do we reserve you as our wedding photographer?
- A: Please confirm that I have your wedding date and time available and either mail a deposit or make a paypal payment to hold your wedding on my calendar.
